Dahntay Jones started playing basketball professionally with the Grizzlies on 21 November 2003 making his debut against Seattle SuperSonics.

On 27 September 2007, Dahntay signed with the Boston Celtics but soon left the team and joined the Sacramento Kings on 10 December. On 21 March 2008, he joined Fort Wayne Mad Ants but left it to join Denver Nuggets on 30 July 2008.

Dahntay signed four-year with the Indiana Pacers on 14 July 200 and was traded to the Dallas Mavericks on 12 July 2012.

After this, on 21 February 2013, Dahntay was traded to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for Anthony Morrow. On 27 September 2013, he signed with Chicago Bulls but was released by the team on 8 October.

On 25 September 2014, he signed with the Utah Jazz but was soon released by the team within a month. Then he rejoined Fort Wayne Mad Ants on 26 November 2014.

Dahntay Jone signed 10 10-day contract with the Los Angeles Clippers on 14 January 2015 and again signed a 10 more days contract with the Clippers. On 3 February, he signed with the Clippers for a season.

On 10 September 2015, he signed with the Brooklyn Nets but was soon released by the team and joined the Cleveland Cavaliers on 13 April 2016. After being released by the team on 24 April 2016, he became a free agent.
